Rare fossils

This project deals with a situation when all animals and humans will be part of history in the future times.

These different scenarios of organisms interact in the public environment as one large organism. I use narrative techniques to tell a story that reflects the presence of alienation but also a return to contact, communication, and understanding. My project shows different scenarios of organisms in public environments and still is connected to nature and be able to interact as one big organism in each shot. A sense of harmony and safety was important in balancing the animations because I think this goal can be achieved without virtual reality. I often feel overwhelmed by all the environmental concerns that are closely linked to our ideas of how we should address and perceive this situation in order to get rid of it. It occurred to me that it would be wonderful just to see images of nature, of organisms moving freely around the city and integrating into the cycle, and no one feels removed from their authentic environment.

The 16th and Arapahoe screen occupies a very unique position within downtown Denver, residing next to the historic Daniels & Fisher Clocktower and central to the 16th Street Pedestrian Mall. The screen can be seen from many different vantage and distance points and has been a primary focus for daily arts activations since being implemented in 2018. The non-traditional split surface peculiarities and ultra-wide format make it one of the most popular screens for artists to work with. The programming cycle for this screen allows 45 minutes of continuous artist content each hour, on the hour, throughout the Supernova walking tour on September 18th.
